Researchers at the Bristol Robotics Laboratory and the University of Bristol have recently developed a new soft robotic skin-like sensor that is based on fluidic transmission. This sensor, presented at the second IEEE International Conference on Soft Robotics (RoboSoft), could have interesting applications in a variety of fields, ranging from robotics to virtual reality (VR).
This year has seen a record number of nominations for the SPARKies tech and digital awards 2019, and they’ve been some of the highest quality ever seen.

Chris Skidmore MP, Minister of State for Universities, Science, Research and Innovation, toured Bristol Robotics Laboratory (BRL) and the University Enterprise Zone (UEZ) as part of a visit to UWE Bristol.
The minister, MP for Kingswood, met UWE Bristol Vice-Chancellor Professor Steve West and BRL Director Professor Chris Melhuish during the visit earlier today (Fri 22 March).
