Older Adults Required For Autonomous Vehicle Trial – Jan – Feb 2019

Volunteers aged 65 or over required

Simulator trial of automated connected vehicle

Volunteers will be given shopping vouchers

UWE Bristol is looking for volunteers aged 65 or over to take part in a simulator-based autonomous vehicle trial.

The trial is open to anyone aged 65 or over, so please pass on to your family or friends.

The Flourish project, which includes partners from across the South West including UWE Bristol, is working to develop a connected autonomous vehicle that integrates the mobility needs of older people with a secure and connected infrastructure.

The project is about to start its third and final series of simulator trials.

In the trial participants will experience interacting with an autonomous vehicle, and give their feedback.

Whilst in the simulator each participant will make a number of journeys in an autonomous vehicle in an imaginary city and semi-rural environments.

We are looking for older participants (aged 65 or older) who are either drivers or non-drivers.

No previous experience is needed.

Participants will receive shopping vouchers as a thank you and to cover travel expenses for each activity.

All participants will come along to an introductory session scheduled for Monday 28 January and lasting around two hours to find out about the trial and to give us their initial thoughts on autonomous vehicles.

They will then individually spend 2-3 hours with us on another day during the trial period.

The trial runs until Thursday 28 February at the Bristol Robotics Laboratory on Frenchay campus.
